Day 4 of Treatment

By now the previous treatments are all taking their toll. I’m finally starting to feel the fatigue. This usually starts about an hour or so after the treatment. It’s as if you are just tired and your body is heavy feeling.  The burning tongue at this point is by far my worst side effect.  There is just a constant burning on my tongue.  Ice cream and milkshakes help, but the burning is always there.  This isn’t some sort of excruciating pain;  It’s just a small burning sensation that never seems to wean off.

The treatment process by now has been fairly streamlined. I don’t have to change into a hospital gown anymore.  I can just go in with a loose fitting T-shirt and nothing in my back pockets (because I will lay on them).  I just walk back to the room, take off my shirt and lay down on the table.

The mask they have you wear is starting to become an annoyance as well.  It fits snug to your face and then it attaches to the table. The top of your shoulders on up is pinned down to this table. You can’t move even if you tried. At first it didn’t bother me, but now I’m starting to get the whole claustrophobic feeling. Really you are only held down for about 12-15min.  I bet in the next coming weeks this will start feeling like I am being held down longer just because I will get sick of being strapped to a table.

It’s alot like having an X-ray taken I think. You can kind of see through the mask that it is a bright white light there is shooting at your face. The machine makes this slight bee buzzing nose when it is on.  Then it stops and I think they reposition the beam. They shoot me three times. I believe it’s three different angles they are trying to hit around my area where the tumer was surgically removed.

Well tomorrow will cap week one. Now to get some rest.
